The painting “The Occidental Tower the Capitol Citadel of the Altrightland was Naturally Situated over a Lake of Fire” acts as the anchor point and key for all the works in the show. It establishes the immediate setting and location for many of the paintings in the show. Art historically the painting references Bruegel’s Tower of Babel and Guston’s KKK Klansmen paintings. “The Lake of Fire” in the titles situates the tower as existing above the site of a spiritual hell and is the “miasma”, “night air”, and “vapours” referred to in other works and in language in my texts. The tower itself is a symbol of an empire in a state of decay/decline used throughout the course of history, mythology, and occult symbolism.
