‘I wanted to visualise what could be our source, our core as human beings - something that could act as the prototype inside of everyone. The marks are a reference to hands, the feeling of a body or a reference to a core. The sphere alludes to the core being able to reproduce, and the idea that the ball can become another core. To represent a process of transmutation or transubstantiation, similar to the act of communion, especially as a black man is something that is very subversive and surreal.’
