Lyons’ most recent work, The Feast of Night, poses questions regarding the nature of predation and its role in the daily lives of us animals. Here, night is both a literal and metaphoric threat, questioning who will be left vulnerable as the moon rises and sets its dark stage. All characters are cast in an equalizing and symbolic red as to unify their plight; all subject to whatever interactions lay before them, the question of who is a threat to whom is left open, abolishing preset hierarchies and expectations of relation. What is to unfold in the revelation of night? How does the elimination of hierarchy arise curiosity between each character? What associations do we rely on to create narrative and are they to be trusted?
