'This is the first time I have made a work that has textural painted elements built up on both sides of the canvas. At one point, the central panel of the painting was removed, flipped and re-integrated, a metaphor for transformation and change. The mirror form appears again here, its specular surface once more displaced. This painting was produced by a process of imagery emerging, becoming obscured, being reinscribed. The surface plays between areas of pared back monoprinting on raw canvas and glossy, textural surfaces. It had many permutations in the process of its making. The imagery derives from dreams, and a conversation about love.'
