This is the first painting I made after visiting Guerra paint in New York; a store that sells pigments and paint binders. I have been interested in making my own paints from this company for a while, and I finally was able to visit their store and do a number of in-person demos.
This painting uses two pigments from that trip: Single Pigment Hookers Green (an extinct pigment) and Red Oxide Medium. I also used two different binders, Acrylic 65 and Urethane Flat. The Urethane flat produced a number of unexpected transparencies and interactions with my more standard palate, and accounts for the subtle transparencies found in the center of the piece.
