At the centre of Night Vision, an intense moonlight illuminates the cool expanse of a mountainous, rocky valley. On the right side of the painting, the night-time silhouette of ancient columns dissolves into the unworldly mirage of a surrounding forest. Blissett draws us into the immensity of shadowed terrains, where spectral light refracts across water and stone, and natural architecture entwines with the echoes of human presence. Moving away from the classical paradigm of fortified human structures, Night Vision suggests an entanglement of man-made and geological forms. Building upon the traditions of landscape painting, Blissett reimagines the landscape not as a backdrop but as a spectral force that unsettles boundaries between nature, culture, and the self.
