Felt Uncertainty explores the relationship between feeling, consciousness and the ways in which we experience the world before we can fully articulate it. Drawing on the ideas of neuroscientist Antonio Damasio, Ramsden considers consciousness not simply as a product of thought, but as something rooted in the body and its ongoing encounter with the world. Her paintings emerge through this embodied process of attention, intuition and response, allowing feeling to become a form of thinking in itself. Rather than seeking to resolve uncertainty into a fixed meaning, Ramsden embraces the indeterminate nature of experience, exploring how something can be deeply felt before it can be understood or put into words.
