The Stars at Noon evokes the experience of sensing something that is always present, yet usually invisible. The stars exist in daylight even when we cannot see them, becoming a metaphor for the unseen dimensions of consciousness and feeling. In the painting, the familiar distinction between day and night, inner and outer, visible and invisible begins to dissolve. What emerges is less an image of a particular place than a sensation — a moment of heightened awareness in which something beneath the surface suddenly becomes felt.
