The film Anywhen formed part of the daily 8-hour dramaturgy for the Tate Modern Turbine Hall Hyundai Commission: Philippe Parreno | Anywhen. The commission transformed the Turbine Hall into an immersive experience, challenging our perceptions of time and space.

The camera studies a lone cuttlefish, a marine animal which can project images and animations on their skin directly in response to their environments. When Parreno was a child he had a fantasy that he could open his mouth and project a reality onto somebody else, his imagination would be communicated without the use of language, like a cephalopod he would communicate bypassing the barrier of symbols. For Parreno cephalopods transcend the restriction of language, with their ability to change colours and communicate their emotions through their skin—they embody an ultimate and pure form of artistic communication.
