Oak Dance was painted after a walk in the woods in Belgium where the Oak Tree is also the National Tree I think it might be in every European country? Not sure, and the forager who was leading the walk spoke about the amazing nutritious value of acorns and that you can always recognise oak trees in the forest because they appear to dance. I really like that also because oak a are always likened to something so solid, so I
Liked the idea they are actually frivolous and dancing. Also King Charles the second, who was very joyous and liked to party hid in an oak tree! But the faces in the tree are not meant to be King Charles but meant to be personified acorns.
