In Moon-Person, Mary Ramsden plays with the colloquial idea of a “moon person” — someone dreamy, and intuitive — to imagine a figure suspended between the human and the cosmic. Luminous fields of colour and softly shifting forms create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and otherworldly, as though the figure is emerging from a dream or drifting through a landscape of its own consciousness. The moon becomes less a distant celestial body than a character in the painting: a presence with its own rhythms, moods and gravitational pull.
